Transfer Applicants

Transfer Applicants

Admissions are on a rolling basis. Early application is encouraged.

When to Apply

Deadline for fall semester: May 1

Who Should Apply?

TUSPM accepts applications from students currently attending or recently graduated from a school of podiatric medicine. If you are currently enrolled in or have completed a program at a foreign or US allopathic or osteopathic institution, you may apply for Advanced Standing and must complete a minimum of the final two years of full-time study at TUSPM to satisfy the requirements for the D.P.M. degree. To be considered, you must submit all required credentials along with the Transfer Application.

Application Process

The Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine application process for transfer and advanced standing students consists of three parts.

Online TUSPM Application

Complete the TUSPM online application for transfer and advanced standing students. Transfer applicants are not required to submit the AACPMAS application.

Application Materials

The following application materials are required for transfer students:

  1. Official transcripts. Submit official transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary institutions attended.
  2. Recommendation. A letter of good standing from the dean of your current medical college.
  3. Test scores. Official MCAT scores. If you participated in the administration of the NBPME, please provide result(s).

TUSPM reserves the right to deny applications for transfer based on a poor undergraduate or professional school academic record.

Interview

Once the Office of Admissions has received all application materials, you will be considered for an interview.

Transfers enrolled in first-year
If you are currently enrolled in the first year of podiatric medical school, you will be invited to interview through a regular admissions committee, as though you were going through the initial admissions process. Decisions in the regular admissions process are typically made within two weeks of your interview.

Transfers enrolled in second-year
If you have progressed further than the first year of podiatric medical school, your materials will be forwarded to the Advanced Standing Committee for review. You will be contacted through the Office of Educational Affairs for an interview.

Mail all application materials to:

International Applicants

You are considered an international student if you hold, or will need to obtain, a non-immigrant visa, including a student visa (F-1), or an exchange visitor visa (J-1).

Please review TUSPM requirements for international applicants.

Transfer Credits

Transfer students from other podiatric medical schools should expect to lose a year because of differences in curriculum. You will need podiatric-specific courses, which begin in the first-year curriculum.
