Visitor Information: Admission to the museum is free. Self-guided tours are available only on weekdays (Monday-Friday) and only 9 am to 5 pm. The exhibits are not available on Saturday or Sunday.
Tour appointments are made online: https://calendly.com/shoemuseum/1
Visitors take a self-guided tour with supplemental audio provided by means of QR bar codes. This requires a QR code reader app downloaded to a smartphone (although more smartphones come with this already pre-loaded into the camera). Visitors can scan the code at each exhibit to hear a supplemental audio description.
Our self-guided tours typically take about 30 minutes. The tour brochure is available here (brochure).
The museum is located within the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine at 148 N. 8th Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19107. This is essentially the corner of 8th and Race Streets. This is a functioning medical school with active classes and workshops. We ask you to please be respectful to our students, staff, and faculty. Visitors are only permitted in designated museum areas.
There is a Parkway parking lot on the site.
We are also across the street from the Chinatown stop of the SEPTA Broad Street orange line.
You will need to sign in with our security staff at the front desk of our main entrance on 8th Street. Please show them your email confirmation to verify you're tour appointment.
Dr. Andrew Meyr is the museum curator, and may be reached at [click-for-email] with any questions. Groups of 10 or more should contact him prior to a visit.
