The academic departments at TUSPM cover a wide spectrum of podiatric education. As the region's largest foot and ankle center, the Foot and Ankle Institute's expert and renowned team of podiatric specialists provide full diagnostic and treatment services for the lower extremities in the areas of surgery, orthopedics, physical therapy, dermatology, wound care, fabrication of orthosis, and medicine.

Biomedical Science

The mission of the Department of Biomedical Sciences is to provide students with basic medical science concepts which will allow them to apply these basic principles to their clinical education in the third and fourth years of training.

Podiatric Biomechanics

The Department of Podiatric Biomechanics consists of highly trained clinicians and scholars who specialize in the biomechanics of the lower extremity. The conservative management of disorders affecting the foot and ankle is a departmental focus both clinically and in our research. We utilize innovative techniques in our Gait Lab to study foot structure, function, and rehabilitation. As well, our physicians specialize in the fabrication of custom orthoses and non-surgical treatment modalities for all foot and ankle conditions. Our department includes board-certified specialists in multiple areas including Podiatry, Pedorthics, and Orthopedic Physical Therapy. Working in conjunction with the Departments of Medicine and Surgery we assist in patient care at the Foot and Ankle Institute as well as Academic and Clinical student training.

Podiatric Surgery

 The Temple University Department of Foot and Ankle Surgery consists of a dedicated and highly trained group of surgeons specializing in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery. The department utilizes the newest techniques and innovations to treat everyday common conditions to the most complex conditions involving the lower extremity. All of our surgeons are board-certified or eligible and have completed the highest level of training at highly accredited institutions throughout the country.

     We manage the surgical needs of patients from pediatric to geriatric, not only in the immediate tri-state area but from all regions of the country. The department of surgery is on call daily at Temple University Hospital responding to trauma calls and all calls pertaining to the foot and ankle. The department actively performs surgery at Temple University Hospital, The Temple Foot and Ankle Institute Surgery Center, and Aria Frankford Hospital
